Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then located numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police say early analysis show the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in relation with the incident," they added.
City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the case" and have requested to the community for tips.
A senior political figure said the vandalism made him without words and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
